Kia ora! My name is Hazel, I’m 25, and I go by any pronouns! I’m a fat queer disabled artist. I make a variety of things when I’m well enough and the inspiration strikes!

If you feel like buying me a cuppa, here’s my Ko-fi:

Hazel ALison Camp:
multidisciplinary Artist

I was born, and still live, in the beautiful garden city: Ōtautahi, Aotearoa. Enthralled by all forms of creativity since I could hold a brush at 11 months old, the wheel of art and craft projects is always turning in my life and mind.

My projects have ranged from painted glass potions, tarot cards, whimsical zines, through to cake decorating and painted letter boxes. Mediums I’m particularly fond of include: acrylic and watercolour paints, pen and pencil, ink, crochet, book binding, mixed media, and fabric painting. Following my interests and exploring ideas where they take me regardless of medium has always been where I find my most fulfillment as an artist.

Being disabled does unfortunately get in the way of my work. I have been living with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and Fibromyalgia for over a decade. I discovered I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in recent years as well. All of which greatly impacts my quality of life and ability to create. However, when I have moments of energy and bodily function that make it possible to work on my art, they are one of the biggest highlights of existing for me!

The origin of the name HazyHappiness: Back during 2015-2016, I ran an Etsy store called HazyHappiness where I sold handmade things that appealed to my whimsical & nerdy heart; this was during a short lived improvement of my health. It’s currently on indefinite hiatus, but I hope to reopen it one day. I’ve stuck with the name because it “feels like me”; I find a lot of happiness in art making, and my process often happens in what feels like a sunny haze.

I am self-taught, but have learned much from the many great artists on YouTube.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions or are interested in my work! Email me at HazyHappiness@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram.
